Every great party has great food - bring some easy spooks to your Halloween party!
Fun food doesn't have to be hard - in fact, none of these are difficult or require hard-to-find ingredients.
We've been entertaining with our skeletons for a couple years now. My hubby picked these up from Michael's craft store for me. I have 3 that are used as decorations on my shelves and mantel. They are then wiped off and used for food displays; making even the most simple spread look extra spooky. Some of the spreads we have done: meat and cheese, gummy worms, candy corns and pumpkins. The possibilities are endless and so easy.
Here's some easy ideas to help bring your party to the next level. Clearly you're going to need some candy eyes - I usually get mine at JoAnn's craft store.
Cinnamon Roll Intestines: 2 packages of large cinnamon rolls. Spray your 9x13" pan and lay out the cinnamon rolls in whatever gestational pattern you want. Bake at 350 for 15-17 minutes. Mix the frosting with strawberry jam or red food coloring (we did both). Spread icing on while the rolls are still warm. With a spoon or spatula, outline each side of the intestines to get the frosting to go down the sides, created for details.
Band-aid Cookies: 1 package of vanilla wafer cookies. frosting and strawberry jam (squeezable works best). With a zester, round the corners of the cookies. Pipe a square of white frosting in the middle and add a dab of strawberry jam for the gross blood.
Mummy Cupcakes: Chocolate cupcakes (darker is better), white frosting and M&M candies. Use a piping bag with a flat tip to make the stripes of frosting. Leave an opening unfrosted for the eyes. Place two small dots of frosting to attach the M&M eyes.
Frankenstein Zingers: 1 box chocolate Zingers, green candy melts, black detail icing (comes ready to pipe) and candy eyes. Dip your Zingers in the melted green candy and put the eyes on while it's still soft. Allow to set up. Once the chocolate/candy coating is firm and you can pick it up, pipe on the stitches, mouth and side marks.
Monster Crispies: 1 box rice crispy treat (I used packaged so they are more firm than homemade), candy melts of any color, candy eyes and sprinkles (optional).
Witch Fingers: Pretzel rods, green candy melts and slivered almonds.
Caramel Apple Slices: any apples work, but I prefer granny smith. A tip to keep the apples from turning brown is to soak them in sprite for 5 minutes. Wipe off the apples and drizzle with chocolate, caramel, white chocolate. I found the toppings to easily slide off the apples so prep right before serving. And a thick homemade caramel works better than store bought.
Ghost Sticks: Pretzel rods, white almond bark and candy eyes.
Banana Muffins: These are spooky or overly creative - but you can put any muffin in a mini Halloween wrapper and it adds to the spookiness of your spread.
